Common ACE Preparation Details (US)

Most highway carriers must send advance cargo and conveyance data to US Customs and Border Protection (CBP), but exemptions and alternate processes can apply. Confirm the current rules for each load and filing channel.

SCAC code issued by the National Motor Freight Traffic Association (NMFTA)
ACE Portal credentials if you self-file through that channel, or access to an approved service provider
Importer, entry, and bond details supplied by the responsible trade party when applicable
Truck information — VIN, license plate number, and plate state/province
Trailer information — license plate number and trailer type
Driver information — commercial driver's license (CDL) number and citizenship
Shipper and consignee details — name, address, and contact information
PAPS barcode or other shipment-control reference when applicable
Commodity descriptions and HTS (Harmonized Tariff Schedule) codes when required

ACI enrollment completed with CBSA
Conveyance data — truck and trailer identification
Cargo data — total weight and commodity descriptions
PARS barcode or other cargo-control reference when applicable
Shipper and consignee details — name, address, and contact information
Port of entry selection — the specific border crossing you will use
Estimated arrival date and time at the port of entry
